The history of tarot readings
Tarot cards have been used by Psychics & Tarot Readers for hundreds of years. They were used as playing cards for games such as tarocchini & French tarot from the mid-15th century. Whilst their use for tarot readings became most popular from the late 18th century, divination using cards is recorded as early as 1540.
What do tarot cards look like
There are many different beautiful tarot decks. A tarot card deck has 78 cards; 4 suits, each with 14 cards. In addition, there is a separate 21 card trump suit & a single 'Fool' card. Tarot readers will normally have their own tarot cards which they are very attached to. Some people say you should be gifted your first tarot deck, where as others like to choose their own. It's an important purchase - make sure you choose a deck that you feel drawn towards.
How does a tarot reading work?
It's not just about each individual card, but the order that they are picked & which way up they are. Each tarot reading will be very individual, giving you answers & insight about your life. True tarot readers tune in to the meaning of the chosen cards for each individual person. It is a real skill, as it takes a lot more than just knowing the meaning of a card. The same cards may be laid out in the same order for two different readings, but they can mean different things.
The Death Card
There's no need to fear tarot. Whilst getting the 'death' card might at first seem rather sinister, it is not actually signifying your death. It signifies an definite ending of something, such as a spell of depression, unhappy times or a bad relationship. The 'death' card can be very positive & lets you put difficult issues behind you & have a new beginning.
Can anyone read tarot cards?
We are all born with psychic skills, but we have to be in tune with this intuition, & many of us block it off over time. You need to be able to read the cards AND use your psychic abilities. So yes, you might be able to use tarot cards - give it a go & get lots of practice!
